65+ paintings as of today. I have questioned myself along the way with this new exploration of abstract art in painting a day... Is it possible? Abstract art does not seem to be the norm in painting a day... Representational art has a longer history and wider audience. I have kept at this abstract painting a day journey for about 2 months and counting. Hopefully, abstract art will climb in popularity in 'the painting a day world' for us abstract artists. 65+ and counting...
So here I am... I began this new journey around 7/29/2013 and today is 9/3/2013. I have painted 34+ paintings in this span of time with a new Gallery /Store on this site and paintings for sale at auction on eBay, Etsy, Daily Paintworks, Wanelo, 3+ blogs, Tumblr, Pintrest and the list goes on. It is not just about the painting but also about the marketing if you are going to live off of your passion. My painting is what stirs my soul and gives inspiration to the day. It is just about the only time that I feel peace and joy watching the paintings take a life of their own, The creative process is the spark of life for me at this time. I constantly work at creating a presence for these new paintings on the internet. I have debated with myself about pricing for a 6"x6" original one of a kind painting... I felt that $100.00 for each painting was not a whole lot since art in my eyes is priceless. It brings a story to life, a joy to the beholder or maybe just solace for the broken heart. Why does art have to go up in price once the artist dies? Why not bring the artist the money to continue creating doing what he/she loves while there is the life breath? So here I am... The journey of Painting A Day continues...
It has been a great day. I have been trying to find a way to paint everyday as this is what gives me joy and yet how to survive financially? This seems to be the big question for artists... Do what we love and get paid to keep on doing what we love. A vocation of the soul/heart... The inner drive to just paint because it feels right to paint. It is not an effort to paint because it is intrinsic to every fiber of my being. So... I decided to paint smaller paintings everyday with my mixed media techniques and concepts and list them on eBay and Etsy for sale everyday. Paint for the love of painting... I love painting... The money will follow is my Mantra... Being an artist is a gift given to me by GOD... Therefore it is a gift that needs to be used at all times and I am thankful and blessed to have this great opportunity to keep on giving the gift of art! DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE MONEY WILL FOLLOW... Watercolor painting is the salvation for the soul at this time... Many things have changed in life and yet nothing has changed at all. It is all in the perspective... The "waking up." Watercolor is water flowing with color on to a surface that welcomes this play of color. I am currently working on two different paintings filled with positive and negative spaces and the continued stained glass theme. There has been a move to a new location overlooking a lake which brings tranquility and serenity thus enabling me to take up my paint brush once again. This is a year of painting for all that it is worth... Painting just because... It is a gift that has been given to me and therefore I must use this gift with grace... A new life is in play... Everything has come to a full stop! No painting in many months.. Looking at everything in a different LIGHT. A new perspective... It will be interesting to see what art comes out of this new life in progress...
Illusive sketches... Second sketch is about Hurricane Andrew before it hit Miami in 1992. I sketched this about a week prior to having Hurricane Andrew hit my home and studio destroying everything in its path. The Eye of Andrew!
The past few weeks have been about loss and change. I started looking at my art again and photos of my past paintings. Here are some more sketches from the past.
